Abhyanga

Dhara

Shirodhara at Vaidyas Ayurveda Village

According to the conditions of the patient/imbalance/disease/symptom, the physician will ordinate the corresponding oils/herbs and duration, position of flow as for example in:

Thakra dhara

(Yoghurt + Kashayam according to disease. A flow over the whole body)

Shiro dhara

Kizhi

Specially selected herbal leaves or powders are compressed into small bags and then dipped in hot, medicated oil or various herbal liquids and applied to the body or afflicted area. The ingredients seep through the bag and penetrate deep into the body to result in an intensive and therapeutic treatment.

Podhi kizhi

Pizhichil 

(Oil squeezed from a cotton ball. Oil including herbs according to element.)

(smoke)

Vasthi 

(external)

A dam of herbal dough is built on the affected area, filled with medicated oil with which the patient is left to rest. As a result, it helps in rejuvenating your body by relieving pain, tension and swelling.

Khadi vasthi – lumbar

Greeva vasthi – cervical vertibras, pain, shoulder stiffness

Prishta vasthi – spineproblems, for veins, (long wall of doug)
